Since 1957, The United Church of Christ has been a church of “firsts”. The church was the first white denomination church to ordain African American priests, the first to ordain a woman, the first to ordain an openly gay man and the first Christian Church to affirm the right of same-gender couples to marry.

The Church was significantly involved in the effort to get the Minnesota same-sex marriage bill signed into law. Beginning on August 1st, 2013 the state of Minnesota will begin issuing marriage certificates for same-sex marriage.

Ron Hunt became on ordained Minnesota for The United Church of Christ in 1988. For 25 years Ron and his wife Lisa have embraced the GLBT community and their mission to legalize same-sex marriage. Beginning on August 1st, 2013 Ron is excited and gratified that he has the state of Minnesota’s blessing to officiate state, sanctioned legally binding same-sex marriage ceremonies and celebrations.

Ron has performed more than 500 weddings, each tailored to the personal taste and values of the couple. He works to design a special wedding ceremony that will make memories which last a lifetime.

Ron is located in Deerwood, Minnesota, conveniently near Crosslake Minnesota and Pine Peaks Resort and Event Center. Ron is looking forward to working with the entire Pine Peaks team to create extraordinary ceremonies for future same-sex marriage celebrations!
